The beast that is MOTORMOTH began as a vision for singer, guitarist, songwriter Skitz about 3 years ago. So began the search for like-minded lovers of heavy, whiskey fuelled rock n roll.
2003 saw the building and recording of ’Albino Crow’ with a solid line up featuring Skitz (Vocal & Guitar) - Scampers (Bass) - Matt Day (Guitar) & Pablo (Drums)
It wasn’t long before MOTORMOTH built up a solid fan base in their home town of the Gold Coast, with the buzz spreading rapidly with calls from Australia’s largest agencies wanting the lads on their bills as the ‘Albino Crow’ demo has already garnered label interest and was receiving airplay.
Early 2004 began with the writing process of the debut EP ‘Cosmic Tonne Overdrive’, during this process MOTORMOTH called on the services of Antz (Bass) & Fleshkite (Guitar) to record and perform live until the eagerly awaited release. After a huge performance at 2004's Big Day Out and numerous supports,The debut EP ‘Cosmic Tonne Overdrive’ was released nationally in September 2004 on Ward69Records thru MGM - which saw it plant itself firmly in the top 20 independent charts for around twelve weeks.
2005 will see MOTORMOTH return with Scampers (Bass) - Matt Day (Guitar) & the inclusion of Gavin Hansen (Drums) formerly of (The Poor – Black Seed & Lump).
The current Moth incarnation is one of rock in its rawest stripped back most powerful and staunch form. The overall sound has been described as a cross between Alice in Chains - AC/DC-Black Label Society - Kyuss and Soundgarden.
MOTORMOTH is complete. A heavy, monster riff-laden rock band that has filled the void that was masked by fashion and trends.
