Daysend is a progressive Australian Metal band fusing an array of musical genres to create a hard edged yet melodic sound. They are a melting pot for various styles and influences ranging from thrash to hard rock and good old fashioned heavy metal. The explosive five piece rocketed onto the scene at the beginning of 2003 boasting members of various high calibre local metal bands, all with the passion and determination to take their wares to a higher level. Later that year after a gruelling ten day recording session at Backbeach Studios in Victoria Australia, the bands debut album, 'Severance' was released to much critical acclaim, and it was soon voted by listeners of high rating radio station Triple J as ..1 Australian Metal Album of that same year. A video clip was also recorded for the crowd favourite ‘Born Is The Enemy’ which soon became a staple on local metal video shows. Within a short time they were tearing up the nations highways and skyways on an almost weekly basis, sharing the stage not only with Australia's best metal acts but high profile international acts Slipknot, Hatebreed, Machine Head, In Flames, Chimaira, The Haunted, Strapping Young Lad, Entombed, and Skinlab and before long the legendary American label Metal Blade Records caught site of the band and scooped them up. While praise of Severance's musical ability poured in, both in Australia and internationally, they scored a highly coveted spot on the Californian metallers Otep’s North American tour in 2005, along with Gizmachi, Devilinside, Manntis, and Suicide City and for six weeks they raged and rampaged across the continent from San Francisco to New York, Michigan to Colorado and everywhere in between gaining a multitude of fans along the way. Come early 2006, Daysend plan to return to the studio to record the follow-up to Severance, and their latest experiences will bring a new progression, musically and creatively to the fold.
